A Small World in total balance, - The Inside Story –

Inside each EcoSphere are active micro-organisms, bright redshrimp and algae, all in a solution of clear filtered sea-water. Since the EcoSphere is a self-sustaining ecosystem, you never have to feed the life within. Simply provide your Ecosphere with artificial or natural light and enjoy this aesthetic blend of science, art, beauty and balance.

Because the creatures in the EcoSphere use their own waste to support the system, without overpopulation or pollution of the environment, the EcoSphere requires no cleaning and minimal care. EcoSpheres have an average life expectancy of between 2 and 3 years. However it is not uncommon for shrimp populations to be thriving in systems as old as 7 years.

Our licensee, EcoSphere Associates, Inc. in the USA, has manufactured this ecosystem for over 20 years. Their collection contains many EcoSpheres which are older than 10 years. Most of which still contain living shrimp. EcoSphere GmbH Europe, located in Grafschaft, Germany produce The Original EcoSphere for the European market according to original NASA recipe. EcoSphere Europe have well-trained customer-service staff, who can answer all questions concerning this small ecosystem.

Each EcoSphere comes with a serial-number and a handbook with clear instructions in 4 languages. The serial-number will indicate : the age of the EcoSphere; who it was shipped to; and when. The customer can contact a customer-service agent any time..

A View into the Future

The Ecosphere is the result of technology developed by scientists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. NASA was researching self-contained communities for spce explorers to live in during long-term space flights. Out of this research came the Ecosphere – an ecosystem of animal and plant life in perfect balance.
